amazing. absolutely amazing. this past week i've been listening to the "a fever you can't sweat out" CD in preparation for panic! at the disco's last show of the tour (at the wiltern in LA). i was excited to see them live, but i didn't think it would blow me away or anything... the actual show surprised me and surpassed all my expectations. the show had been sold out for quite some time, and now i understand why. those kids in panic! at the disco really know how to put on a show and i got the impression that the audience had a really good time. thankfully, karen had gotten us four tickets (for the two of us, plus jj and julio) literally right after they started selling them online. : ) it was my first time at the wiltern, which i think is a really nice venue and would love to go back to.

the hush sound was the opening band, and at first i was just waiting for them to finish so we'd be one band closer to seeing panic!, but then i started really getting into their music. halfway through their first song, i turned to jj and yelled that one of the lead singers (bob) reminded me of logan from gilmore girls. he yelled back that he was just going to tell me the same thing. i'm sure he doesn't really look like logan (played by matt czuchry) in real life, but from where he was standing there was a resemblance. i know i have a thing for lead singer/band boy types, but he really did have a good voice, and the hush sound's songs are really well-written.

as it was the last show of the tour, and the hush sound was the opening band, there were some random "pranks" that were going on while they were playing, including panic's bodyguard randomly sweeping the stage, messing with the band and their instruments, and dancing around them. at one point brendon (from panic!) ran out onto the stage and sang part of the hush sound's "don't wake me up." i was really impressed with brendon's voice, and the song's chorus was extremely catchy.

(different show, but same song)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=n0csjnyG7x0the second band was the dresden dolls, which i didn't like as much. it was fun when amanda from the dresden dolls sung britney spears' "hit me baby one more time" with brendon though (yep, brendon was pretty much the star of the show).

FINALLY took the stage. they opened with "the only difference between martrydom and suicide is press coverage" and the energy was kept at a high throughout the entire show. i love love loooved the changes that the band made to their songs - the audience was still able to sing along of course, but everything sounded fresher, more energetic and pretty spectacular. i had a blast singing along at the top of my lungs and i didn't even mind the physical contact/sweating as much as i thought i would, hehe.

in between first and second act, one of the performers took polaroids of each of the band members, and after they had written on them, he then proceeded to give a brief intro and throw them out to the audience. when he got to brendon's, the crowd was pretty crazy, since
naturally,
everrryone wanted it. so he tosses the polaroid out into the audience,
and it goes straight toward where karen, jj, and i are standing. i'm shocked when i see it flying toward us. of course
everyone's hands go up in the air, including mine, but i flinch at the
last second because i feel like i'm going to be pummeled, and i see it fly over and land about half a foot behind me, and then i see like, 4 people dive onto the
floor. but karen's friend julio also gets on the floor, kinda sits on it, and
gets it and gives it to karen! we were all extremely impressed, and i was like, GOOD JOB JULIO!

i also enjoyed brendon's cute little dance during "i write sins not tragedies":

http://youtube.com/watch?v=rwnPo5REQbApanic! basically played their whole CD, in addition to a radiohead cover and smashing pumpkins cover, and i was tired, very satisfied but still sad when they got to their last song - "build God, then we'll talk." before heading back to FV, jj and i stopped by mcdonald's, and this guy wearing a "hot or not" black shirt looked at me and then raised his hand to give me a high five. normally, i'd just look at him (well, give him a "what are you doing"/"do i know you" look) and probably just move away, but i was still really hyped up from the show, so i gave him a big smile and an enthusiastic high five. the girl he was with said, "how do you even know she was there?" he shrugged and said, "i just assumed." so i replied, "i
was there." and so he grinned and gave me another high five. he also gave jj one, and on the way out, jj said, "am i right to assume that you didn't know that guy?" gooood times. : )

try to bring in a BIG bottle of water, and perhaps, some tissues
remember extra batteries and even another memory card for the digi cam
don't be unexcited about seeing the openers (i just bought 2 the hush sound CDs)
definitely go to more P!ATD shows!
common sense, but, if you want merch (tee hee hee) and don't want to wait in line, better try and sneak off toward the end of a set
it's a good concert if you sound like a boy going through puberty afterwards
